Chapter 10
I kicked the driver’s seat with all my might. Nothing happened. I grabbed and scratched his face from the back; he groaned in pain and let out an angry roar. “Jessica, would you stay sill for a while? I will explain this later.” Oh god, I nearly broke a nail, it must have hurt a lot. I only wanted to make sure he is Andy, what if he had a skin mask on? Possibly, it could be. But nothing was peeled off, there were red marks on his cheeks.
Then Andy must be mad, I decided.
The car pulled over at the side walk, beside a house. It’s his house, I think. I had to walk in since he was still holding that blade. I sat on the chair in the basement as he told. I had no choice.
He went out and came back with some rope, it fastened the chair and I tightly together.
“How much are you going to blackmail?” I asked. It’s obvious, all kidnappers can’t refuse money.
“Pardon? Anyway, stay here while I call your dad.” Yeah. Stay here while my parents get worried and probably faint. He came back smiling, “All settled.” That smile seemed too cunning.
“I’ll explain it now.” he began, looking down at the grey basement floor.
“It’s unnecessary,” I replied, struggling to get my hands untied. “I understand.” He kidnapped me, now isn’t that simple enough?
“Really?” he raised his eyes toward the car board boxes, looking bright. “So you’re not angry with me anymore?”
“Huh? I don’t get it.” I finally got one hand out from the big gap, “Just because you kidnapped me in a nicer way, doesn’t mean I shall be grateful for being tied up like this.” I shut my eyes, trying to get the other hand out.
“Wait, I didn’t kidnap you!” he said, “I was just trying to help you.”
Yeah, right. Like I’d believe him. “You know, you should be taking your temperature. You drove me here by force and that’s supposed to be helping me?” I snapped, “That was really really HELPFUL.” I was being sarcastic.
“But all I want to do is protect you.” Andy explained, hitting his head miserably, like I was hard to deal with.
“From what?” I asked impatiently, tugging at my ponytail (with the hand I just pulled out). Andy didn’t even seem to notice. The scene in the café was brought back to mind. “You mean Club Nova? Come on, be fair, why can’t I go?”
Andy shook his head and made his way out of the room. I was in semi-darkness, fear stroke me again and again. “But you can’t do this! This isn’t fair!” I cried.
